The scanner system is designed as a technology platform for quantitative measurement of skeletal geometry, tissue composition, joint alignment and other musculoskeletal characteristics required for applications in orthopaedics, pediatrics, osteoporosis assessment and others.
The scanner takes full advantage of its multiple projection capabilities and the spectral information (i.e. high-quality dual energy) that can be obtained by a counting detector imaging system to provide dimensionally correct, soft tissue subtracted (bone only) and bone subtracted (soft tissue only) images of any body region.
The software algorithm includes x-ray imaging that incorporates spectroscopic information, 2-D and 3-D acquisition methods, quantitative methods for tissue characterization and engineering analyses for evaluation of bone mechanical structure and strength.
